British School of Leather Technology

Working in the labs, fashion applications, diploma presentationWelcome

Welcome to the homepage for British School of Leather Technology, home to the University's leather technology courses.

The British School of Leather Technology (BSLT) was established with a grant from The Leathersellers' Company in 1976 with whom the University maintains strong links.  The BSLT has both general and specialist laboratories for chemical and physical testing, as well as a tannery which allows students to gain hands on experience of all aspects of leather production.  The tannery is the only one to be based in an UK university.

Corium Club

On completion of his or her course at the University, each graduate becomes a life-time member of the Corium Club. Members of the Corium Club meet regularly and events include an annual dinner in Northampton and a social event at the Asia Pacific Leather Fair.

All courses place the emphasis on practical experience - from short courses designed for leather professionals to develop potential in the principles and practice of leather technology - to courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels with specialist options available in leather science, environment, marketing, and business.
