Research at the British School of Leather Technology (BSLT)
The leatherschool has a very active research group covering many aspects of leather manufacture as well as fundamental collagen chemistry. The group is involved in many collaborative projects throughout the world. The main research foci are:
- Centre for Research on Leather and Materials Science
- The relationship between fibre structure of leather and its strength and stiffness
- Computer modelling of the deformation of leather during lasting
- Biochemical processing
- Tanning chemistries
- Processing with ultrasound
- Powder coating
- Uses of collagen as a biomaterial
Higher degrees by research, both MPhil and PhD are available also at BSLT. For more information on these and current programmes please contact the Research Group Leader (geoff.attenburrow@northampton.ac.uk)
