Bus Service 21

Service 21 runs between the University's two campuses, Northampton town centre, the Bus Station and the Railway Station.
Service 21 is a public service operated by MK Metro that runs Monday to Saturday all year round using low-floor buses.
Service 21E links the University and Kingsthorpe to Northampton town centre, Abington and General Hospital in the evening.

Students and staff can travel for free on Service 21 from Park Campus to Avenue Campus, and vice versa, Monday to Friday, on production of a valid University ID card. Buses run between the two campuses every 30 minutes during the day, and hourly in the evenings. At Park Campus the buses stop in front of the Student Centre, while at Avenue Campus the buses stop in front of Maidwell building on St. George's Avenue. The stops outside and opposite Kingsley General Store on Kingsley Road, near the junction with St. George's Avenue, also classify as stops for Avenue Campus since they act as an interchange with Service 20.

Travel to either campus from any bus stop within the NN2 restricted car parking zone ( list of restricted postcodes within NN2 ), and back again, will be free in 2009/10 academic year (from 28 September 2009) on Service 21 on production of a valid University student or staff ID card (all day Monday to Friday). This free-travel zone will operate between Park Campus, Kingsthorpe, Avenue Campus and Barrack Road.

The service also runs from both campuses to Greyfriars Bus Station (Bay C) every 30 minutes, and to the Railway Station (Black Lion Hill) at least once an hour (not evenings). The service operates in both directions from around 7am Monday to Saturday using low-floor buses (it does not operate on Sundays and Bank Holidays). A Flat Fare Zone operates between the University and the Rail Station. Students and staff travel for only £1.00 for any single journey between stops within the Flat Fare Zone (Monday to Friday only) on production of a valid University ID card.

Evening Service 21E runs hourly, Monday to Saturday, all year round between the University campuses, Northampton bus station, Abington and Northampton General Hospital. The last bus from Park Campus leaves at 10.11pm, going via Avenue Campus, to the bus station and Abington. Likewise, the last bus from the bus station leaves at 10.55pm, going via Avenue Campus to Park Campus. Travel from campus to campus is free for students and staff on Monday to Friday evenings on production of a valid University ID card. The fares for all other journeys are the same as for Service 21.

There is no staff or student discount available on Saturdays on both Service 21 and Service 21E - standard fares apply (£1.00 or £1.50 depending on length of journey).

Northampton Buzzcards can be used on Service 21 and Service 21E.
