Profile
Sarah Neill has worked as a lecturer in the field of child health and children’s nursing for the last 10 years. Sarah joined the Centre for Healthcare Education in 1999 with experience of working in two other Higher Education providers of nurse education. She has also acted as External Examiner to pre and post-registration children’s nursing courses nationally and continues to act as in this capacity as required for Master’s theses nationally and internationally. Her clinical background, prior to entering nurse education, covered a wide variety of different specialisms including community children’s nursing - her first love, mental health, short stay surgery and general children’s wards.

Sarah is committed to the development of research skills and knowledge within child health and to this end has been an active member of Royal College of Nursing membership groups for more than 10 years, acting as Co-ordinator of the Research in Child Health (RiCH) Network for 3 years. Sarah continues to contribute to the development of collaborative networks at an international level through her work as the Co-ordinator for the International Paediatric Nursing Research Network (IPNRN) (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PaediatricNursingResearchNetwork ).
Her research interests centre on qualitative approaches to investigating children and family perspectives of services, parent participation, and primary health care for children and families. Sarah’s PhD research is focussed on ‘Acute Childhood Illness at Home: Developing Child & Family Expertise’.
