Avenue Research Central - Research in the Arts

Welcome to the research pages of the School of The Arts.
The vibrant research culture enjoys the interdisciplinary opportunities offered by the broad sweep of subjects within the school. As you you see from our staff profiles, disciplines range from literature to dance, fine art to design and creative industries. Staff and research students benefit from close relationships across fields and this impacts on the nature of their work. The school hosts diverse research centres and projects, holds international conferences / symposia, and is home to the aclaimed 'Portfolio Centre' - a hub for cultural industries.
At the same time, we contribute high quality research to specialist areas, with staff leading national/international research. This includes published work, and practice-based research such as exhibitions, performances and designs. The School submitted three Units of Assessment to the Research Assessment Exercise in Art and Design, English, and Performance. We are also successful in the delivery of high quality PhD programmes and Knowledge Transfer Partnerships.
