Introducing our Psychology staff:
Amar Cherchar
Amar is an Occupational Psychologist who lectures on that topic and also teaches research methods. He organises the final year undergraduate Psychology dissertation module. His research interests lie in the area of personnel management, in particular, the effects of realistic job previews within the recruitment and selection processes and in skills acquisition and performance issues.

Dr Gillian Penny - Senior Lecturer
Gill is a Chartered Health Psychologist and teaches the Psychology of Health. Her research interests lie in the area of child and adolescent health, especially health behaviour in adolescents, and stress, coping and illness in relation to transitional experiences in children and young people.

David Stewart - Acting Division Leader of Psychology
David is Field Chair for the Psychology Undergraduate programmes - He is a Chartered Health Psychologist and is registered with the British Psychological Society. His teaching interests are Research Methods and Psychology of Health. His research interests are perceptions of healthcare professionals including stereotypes and mental health problems (stigma).

Martin Tolley - Third Year Tutor for Psychology
Martin teaches Environmental Psychology, Human Development and research methods. Martin also contributes to UN's Centre for Educational and Staff Development (CESD). His research interests focus on child development, particularly literacy problems and factors affecting learning, and the history of psychology.

Dr Malcolm Walley - Learning and Teaching Co-ordinator for Psychology
Malcolm is a qualified counsellor, teaches Counselling Psychology and Transpersonal Psychology and has been actively involved in the UCN Counselling Service. His research interests are in the areas of Buddhist psychology, mental health and sport psychology.
